- This country is known for its beaches, volcanoes and vast biodiversity.
- It has a population of around 4.5 million people.
- Despite the fact that Costa Rica has one of the highest standards of living in the Americas, profound poverty still affects many people at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder.
What We're Doing
This group of artisans that Trades of Hope partners with from Costa Rica once struggled to raise their families in this poor, gang and drug infested area, but now through creating these handicrafts they are now able to provide for their families. Through the sales of these exquisite pieces, these women are learning that their dreams matter and that they have value. Sustainable business teaches these women how valuable and important they truly are, and these women are able to pass this sense of dignity down to their children, shaping Costa Rica’s next generation!
